There is a concerted drive by Failte Ireland North West in conjunction with Cavan County Council to open up access to the lakes of Cavan for fishing and €1.6 million has already been expended on 14 projects. Of the funding for the projects, €1.3 million was provided by Failte Ireland with the remainder being provided by Cavan County Council.

Seaside, OR - It was something the crew at Seaside Aquarium had never seen before. A salmon shark washed up in the Cannon Beach area Wednesday, still alive – which alone was a bit odd. But this salmon shark was covered in a dense layer of parasites in an unusual way.

Work ongoing at Drumkeerin landslide site as 2,000 fish saved

Following on from last weeks landslide which is thought to have been caused as a result of work that is being carried out on a wind farm site, Shannon Regional Fisheries Board's Matt Nolan has reported that to date 2,000 small fish have been removed from the Owengar River.

The third Waterways Ireland Erne World Pike Fishing Classic Competition takes place from Friday 24th October to Sunday 26th October on the River Erne in and around the town of Enniskillen.
